Regardless of the contributions of AIP, there’s a dearth of research investigating the corresponding wants and well-being of older adults from psychological and sociocultural views. This research aimed to analyze older adults’ wants, beliefs, behaviors, well-being, in addition to perceived challenges and alternatives pertaining to AIP. Adopting a qualitative design, in-depth semi-structured interviews have been carried out with 41 older adults on a person foundation. Through thematic evaluation, a theoretical framework on the subject of Self-Determination Theory (SDT) and Social Cognitive Theory (SCT) was established. Findings reveal that the psychological wants of autonomy, competence, relatedness, and dignity are conducive to well-being and determination making. Worry of being a burden to others emerges as a dominant sociocultural assemble. This analysis extends SDT by incorporating the want for dignity as an overarching issue intersecting with SDT wants. Fulfilling psychological wants, honoring cultural beliefs, and aligning with SDG3 and ESG ideas are essential to the profitable implementation of AIP. AIP insurance policies shouldn’t solely take into account older adults’ sensible wants but additionally their psychological wants, thereby fostering an age-friendly surroundings through sustainable improvement.
